  • International Network of Ataxia Friends (InterNAF) A great resource for learning about all types of ataxia, finding equipment, and treatments/drugs.  Best of all, you can join the group and ask questions to other members from around the world.  Go to the site and click “Network” to learn more  
  • Ataxia Information OMIM-Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man-search of genetic disorders. This database is a catalog of human genes and genetic disorders authored and edited by Dr. Victor A. McKusick and his colleagues at Johns Hopkins and elsewhere, and developed for the World Wide Web by NCBI, the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The database contains textual information and references. It also contains copious links to MEDLINE and sequence records in the Entrez system, and links to additional related resources at NCBI and elsewhere.

  • Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) Excellent resource for current research into all types of ataxia, and education, especially for the newly diagnosed.
  • Friedreich's Ataxia Parents Group (FAPG) Internet forum for parents of children with Friedreich’s Ataxia and other childhood-onset ataxias.
  • Ataxia Parenting Group (aparenting) Yahoo group for ataxia parents.
  • Late-Onset Friedreich's Ataxia Support (lofrda) LOFRDA is a support list for individuals with Late-onset Friedreich's Ataxia and other late-onset hereditary ataxias.
  • Muscular Dystrophy Association's Friedreich's Ataxia page FA is one of the 40+ neuromuscular diseases in MDA’s program.
  • Athena Diagnostics (Genetic Testing) Great company that performs DNA testing for the ataxia types for which tests are available.
